Meet the Board

Dawn is married to Keith McEvoy and together they have 4 children, Breanna, Rogan, Connor, and Riley. She is currently a jewelry designer and owner of DMac Designs & Three Rowdy Ravens Antiques & Oddities. She holds a BA in Marketing/Graphic Arts from GVSU, Certified Respiratory Therapist from Muskegon Community College, and has her SLPA from Baker College. She is a former contestant in the Miss Muskegon-Seaway competition. You may recognize her from a Lifesavers commercial where she was cast alongside Mash Star & Harry Morgan! She is on the social committee for the MYC, a parent volunteer for the Norse Singers at North Muskegon Middle School, and a past judges chair & Board Member for Miss Muskegon- Seaway. Dawn enjoys traveling, antiques, photography, and anything to do with her family and dogs. Her favorite quote is, "Holy Cats!"

Michelle is married to Jim Chick, and together they have 5 boys. She has always been involved in the community between Mona Shores Youth Football, the Mona Shores Football Program, Cub Scout Pack 4252, and being a member of the Vikings Lodge, of COURSE she would fit right in with the Miss Shoreline Organization! All joking aside, she is an invaluable asset to our organization. She holds an Associate's degree from Muskegon Business College and is currently an Audiology Technician at Sonus Hearing Care Professionals. She is a proud Grandmother of 6 beautiful grand kids, and her favorite quote is, "Whatever you decide to do in life, make sure it makes you happy."

Jim is married to Michelle Chick and together they have 5 Sons which would explain his community involvement such as being a Cub Master with Pack 4252 and President of Mona Shores Youth Football for 20 years! He has also been President of Roosevelt Park Youth League Baseball, a football referee, Little League Umpire, and a Trustee at the local Vikings Lodge. With an Associate's degree in Business Administration, he is currently the Business Manager at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and we are honored to have him as out Treasurer. He enjoys the outdoors, sports, and reading.

Maria is the Community Relations Director for Subaru of Muskegon and The My Auto Group. She is married to Anthony Secord (a Board Member at large). They have two beautiful daughters (MiKahla is a junior at Alma College majoring in Pre-Law and Art and AriElla is a 4th grader at Muskegon Catholic Central). Maria spends most of her time volunteering for Green And Gold Club, Heaven Can Wait, and Miss Shoreline Scholarship Program. When she’s not volunteering, she loves watching football and spending time with family. Maria has coached Muskegon Catholic Central Varsity Cheer for the past six seasons and is a graduate of Alma College where she was a founding member of the Theta Psi chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma. Her favorite mantra is, "Be the change you want to see in the world." -Ghandi

Dana attended MCC where she obtained an Associate's degree in Business & Accounting. She currently works as an Administrative Assistant of the Cell Tower Division at Newkirk Electric Associates, Inc. Dana is married to Steven Groothuis, and they have a Daughter, Marissa, and Son, Bradley. She has held many volunteer positions with organizations such as the Treasurer of RPYSL, and she has helped with fundraising at Every Woman's Place. She is happy to be currently serving as the Auditor committee chairperson for the Miss Shoreline Scholarship Organization. Dana enjoys bowling and classic cars, and her favorite quote is, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." - Eleanor Roosevelt

A Muskegon native, and former Miss Muskegon contestant, Brenda was elected Muskegon County Probate Court Judge and took the Bench in January 2017. Brenda has been instructing dance for over 20 years, and produced and hosted the “Sidekicks Dance Ranch” country-dance show for six years. She placed first in several solo/partner dance competitions throughout the Midwest and is an award-winning choreographer in several dance disciplines. She is proud to have coached a four-time National Grand Champion dance team. She has been a pro-dancer for Muskegon's Dancing With The Local Stars (a fundraiser created by the local Women's Division Chamber of Commerce - where Brenda is a member - to raise money for the local food pantries and food programs throughout Muskegon, Ottawa, & Oceana Counties) for 11 years now, and is excited to continue producing the Miss Shoreline and Miss Shoreline's Outstanding Teen competition. Brenda is a certified scuba diver and loves to sing karaoke!
Judges Committee Chair - Barb Gripton (not pictured) Barb is a retired teacher with a Master's degree in education. She is active in theater, Garden Club, DAR, and her church. She enjoys antiques and old photography when she is not working at the beautiful Frauenthal or donating her time to our program. She resides in Norton Shores.
Tony Secord - Member at large (not pictured) Tony is a Licensed Social Worker with Ottawa County Mental Health where he has been for nearly 24 years. He is married to Maria Secord and they have two beautiful daughters (MiKahla is a junior at Alma College majoring in Pre-Law and Art and AriElla is a 4th grader at Muskegon Catholic Central). He volunteers his time in many capacities at Muskegon Catholic Central and the Miss Shoreline Scholarship Program. He enjoys movies, sports, and Muskegon Catholic Central football games
Steven Groothuis - Member at large (not pictured) Steven graduated with an Associate's degree in Applied Science/Electronics from MCC and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Controls from GRCC. He owns his own business called MI Pinball Refinery. Steven is married to Dana Groothuis and together they have a Daughter, Marissa, and a Son, Bradley. He enjoys classic cars, fishing, and pinball, of course, as well as volunteering for the Miss Shoreline Scholarship Organization. His favorite quote is, "Every morning I wake up with new ideas." - Carroll Shelby
Rebecca Kaufman - Historian (not pictured) Rebecca has been involved with the Miss Shoreline, Miss Muskegon, and the Miss Isabella County Pageants. She has served as a judge at the State and local levels. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University and Vandercook College of Music in Chicago where she earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music Education, and she is a Music Education Specialist at Spring Lake Public Schools. Rebecca has participated in and directed many musical productions. She is a member of the steel drum band STEEL DOIN IT. Rebecca and her husband are the proud parents of 4 amazing Sons.
