Q: "How old do I have to be to compete for Miss Shoreline?"
A: To compete in Miss Shoreline, you must be at least age 17 and a senior in high school to no older than age 25 on 12/31 of the year you would compete at Miss America. Q: What is the cost to compete? A: A $100 donation to Children's Miracle Network via your MAO portal - we will provide that information to you once you are registered. Q: Do we wear a particular outfit/costume at any part of the show? A: Yes, we typically have a requested attire for the opening number. You will be informed of this in your confirmation email. Q: How many judges preside over the contest? A: 5 Q: Are interviews recorded? A: Yes, we record the interviews and if you purchase a copy of the performance, YOUR INTERVIEW ONLY will be included on the video. They are for the contestant only - if a non-contestant purchases the DVD, it only contains the evening portion of the competition. Q: What do I wear for interview? A: Business attire, but make it YOUR style, have fun with it! Q: "Is there a certain format for my platform/bio?" A: Yes, please see below. |
Q: "How old do I have to be to compete for Miss Shoreline's Outstanding Teen?"
A: To compete in Miss Shoreline's Outstanding Teen, you must be age 13 to 17 and attending high school in the State of Michigan for 6mo prior to the contest date. Q: What is the cost to compete? A: $200 - payable via cash, credit/debit card, or check made out to Miss Shoreline Scholarship Program. Q: Do we wear a particular outfit/costume at any part of the show? A: Yes, we typically have a requested attire for the opening number. You will be informed of this in your confirmation email. Q: How many judges preside over the contest? A: 5 Q: Are interviews recorded? A: Yes, we record the interviews and if you purchase a copy of the performance, YOUR INTERVIEW ONLY will be included on the video. Q: "Once my interview is over, am I allowed to leave and come back?"
A: We prefer that you stay on premises at all times during competition. Once the interview process has begun, the competition is in full swing, however, we provide food and refreshments throughout the day. Q: "Will there be a backstage Mom or monitor during competition?" A: Absolutely - there is always a monitor on duty at all times during the competition. Q: "Hair and makeup - may we have stylists accompany us?" A: No, MAO does not allow stylists at the local or State levels. Girls must create their own updos and styles. We do, however, have makeup and hair stylists on staff to offer suggestions, but they are unable to physically assist the girls with their styles. Q: Will we have assistance with our costumes if needed? A: Absolutely - we have backstage help at all times for zippers, toe shoes, microphones, you name it. Q: "I have special needs for my talent. Who do I contact for my needs?" A: Fantastic! We love it when contestants think outside of the box! Just let us know prior to scripting so we know how to set up and take down. We will practice it a few times prior to showtime. - Please bring those items at load in the day prior to the contest. Q: "Are the dressing rooms private?" A: No, they are not. There are private areas of the changing room, however, they are more of a locker room type style. |
